The 10 Myths About Makeup

Makeup is a fun way to express the personality and uniqueness of each one of us. However, as we talk about makeup, some still think that we have to comply with certain rules and restrictions. With the big amount of information that we can get in this era, it's important to know how to sort it out because some advises come from nowhere and are just myths, It's for this reason that I decided to expose them.

1.Makeup causes acne

This is certainly the most rooted myth in the minds of girls. What actually causes acne is poor hygiene, so make sure your face is clean before applying your makeup, and never sleep without your face not cleansed beforehand.

2.No need to clean your brushes if you are the only one using them

This one joins the previous on the hygiene part, because the brushes are bacteria's nest. You need to clean your brushes at least once a week. No need to spend money in specific products, simply wash them with the same products you use for your hair. The brushes are expensive and often require an investment, if you take care, you can keep them for many years.

3.A darker shade of foundation gives you a tanned look

A darker foundation serves only to affirm that you wear a foundation darker than the tone of your skin. Your foundation should be natural and match your tone.

4.To find the right foundation shade, you should test it on your cheek or your hand

Finding the right shade can be extremely difficult especially if you do not test the foundation on the right place. For starters, your hands are much more exposed to UV and are much less exfoliated than your face. Therefore, they are often darker. Finally, your face also may be different due to various factors such as sun exposure, stress, exfoliation, etc. The jaw bone is the best place to give a harmonious result.

5.Pump mascara in the tube for more product

This practice is one of the worst habits, it contributes to insert air into the tube which will dry out the product more quickly and become the ideal environment for bacteria that may cause infections. If you would rather remove the excess, the risks are the same if you remove the excess over the entrance of the tube. I recommend that you twist your mascara rather than pump the product. And the excess, simply remove it on a tissue paper. Do not forget to change your mascara every month.

6.It is better to use a waterproof  mascara rather than a regular mascara

Unless you are sure to cry or immerse your head under the water, avoid Mascara waterproofs. The main reason lies in the fact that waterproof mascaras are much more difficult to remove. It often involves tearing the eyelashes in the process. Not to mention it's important not to sleep with, this can weaken the eyelashes, cause their fall and cause infections.

7. The red lipstick is not for everyone

Of course, this is completely wrong. Anyone can wear a red lipstick, just choose the shade that will most enhance your skin complexion. Red with bluish shades tend to be universally flattering. I will discuss the various shades in depth in another post.

8.You have to use a pencil with the same color as your eyebrows

Matching your pencil with your eyebrows color will give a severe and harsh appearance. Unless it is intentional, I rather recommend using a color that is a shade or two lighter than your eyebrows color for a natural effect.

9.You shouldn't  wear eye shadow of the same color as your eyes

Whenever you hear someone telling you that you can not do something, there is a good chance that it is wrong and this example is quite representative. The contrasting colors of eye shadow will certainly draw attention to your eyes, however that does not mean that a person with green eyes can not wear green. Moreover, some sets are those that give the greatest impacts.

10. Apply your concealer before foundation

The opposite will be much more effective. By applying your foundation first, you will have already covered most of the imperfections. The concealer or corrector will be used for the most stubborn areas that were not covered by the foundation. This will also prevent you from erasing the product if you do the opposite and will save you time.
